* Why you love photography?

“I love photography because it challenges me every day, it allows me to be creative and freezes the moment for me. In all aspect for me photography allows me to leave an imprint of a specific moment in time.”

* Your favorite type of photography?

“Event photography.. why because everything in life is an event.”

* Comments about your web site design?

“I love smugmug because it caters to a photographer needs. I love jR Customization because they made what I wanted on my site, my idea and made it to a realty. I love my site and my clients also.”

* Why you love photography ?

“I like photography because you are an artist, you have the whole world is your canvas. I look at a subject and I think to my self about what I see, then I try to capture it its true light, the way I see it. It to me is like the final frontier.”

* Your favorite type of photography?

“I would have to say film photography. I practice the art of black and white fine art photography. I like taking my own photographs and developing then in the dark room. I like to feel of taking a print and putting it in the developing solution and seeing a blank white paper come to life and be able to see an image. It is like magic! You can’t do that with a digital, it is not the same thing. With film I can so such more, I can make sepia prints, palladium prints and alternative process that you can not really do with digital and get the same quality that you do with film.”

* Any funny or interesting photography story?

“I was on a shoot for a fly fishing magazine, we were in the mountains of North Carolina and I was on the river taking photographs of this guy fly fishing and I saw this fish and it was jumping out of the water and trying to capture a squirrel to eat. I could not believe what I was seeing. I ran down the riverbank to try to capture the event. I found a safe place to enter the river I thought it was in till I slipped and got caught in the swift current of the river and I got taken down stream and I went over a little water fall, I was not very happy by the end of it all.”

* Comments about your web site design?

“I really like my web site and I think that Jerry and his team did a really good job. They are a really good company and very professional and very good customers service too, witch I liked a lot. I like being able to talk to a real person on the phone and give me a good feeling that someone is going to take good care of you! I shopped around for a good web designer and I fell in love with Jerry and his team. They are very reliable and they all ways get back to you. The level of customer services is the best you can get I think. They are affordable too. I would recommend them to any body that is wants to have a good web site. They are the best in my book and they are also a small American business.”

Jennifer expresses her passion for photography, and her favorite types of photography

“I have always loved art. As a child I would draw, construct, or photographed anything I liked. Photography was a good mix of being able to use light and color. I received a Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of Memphis and have been in various shows and exhibitions while I was there. And studied it all. Photography, Ceramics, Oil Painting, Watercolor, Sculpture, and Printmaking. I enjoy all forms of art but I have found that after I had my daughter that photography was a way to document life in a way that no drawing can….I still love my print making and Painting…..but it is also not as say, family friendly to have at the house when you have a small child. Photography was a perfect fit. I also had begun to work in a retail photo lab and there I was taught a lot on the chemistry of developing and processing of film as well as the artistic side. I have personally have over 12 years of photography lab experience and photo editing experience.

I am right now working with models and outdoor photography with lighting set ups. If I try something I make sure I know how to do all aspects of the subject. Right now I am learning how to use strobe lights to light my subjects. I find that I like the tonal values found in Rembrandt’s work and gives the subject a small peek into the soul. Learning how to light a subject; to give it the right Chiaroscuro.”

“I love taking pictures. But more than that I love that moment when you know you just got your shot. You can feel it. Capturing the energy of people and animals drives my passion the most. This certainly motivated me on my recent project, a dog book, Park City – DogTown USA. I worked with over 100 dogs, most whom I’d never met before. All the shots were done outdoors, so it was anything but a controlled situation. In fact mostly it was very hectic, and I often experienced more energy than I knew what to do with! But, with a lot of patience and persistence it all came together and I’m very happy with the completed book. My hope is when people look through the book it makes them smile and maybe even laugh out loud, then I’ll know I captured some of that spirit of each dog in their photos.”
